Gangnam Youth Training Center is preparing 'Wintering in the Rural Area Project 1,' which is a program targeting elementary school students. This program allows the students to experience the lifestyle of rural areas. The Center is looking forward to having many students with passion in the program

[Yeongdeung-po] In-depth Course for Reading Art Instructors
Yeongdeung-po Women Resources Development Center is opening an in-depth course to furnish reading art instructors. This course is linked up with 'reading art instructor level 3' and at the completion of this in-depth course, the students can achieve level 2 license. The reading art instructor program is a combination course designed to cultivate instructors for children's reading instruction and art education, which is good not only for the children's emotions but also for psychotherapy. With the instructions, children can form a proper reading habit that will last all through their life.

[Garak] Winter Vacation Program. 'A Village Library Sharing Warmth'
Garak Welfare Center is trying to form a village culture by bringing the people from both leased and owner apartment complexes together through a village library and to build an expanded community. In January, they are planning a 'Village Library Sharing Warmth' program. This program offers various cultural activities including children's story narration, book art, collective games, and movies.

[Gangnam] Recruiting new members for 'Peace Maker'
Peace Maker is a violence-prevention club, which started their work in 2008. When one joins this club, he/she can learn about school violence and on peer counseling. He/She as a peace maker can also perform various activities to prevent school violence.

YWCA boycotts any products made by Oxy Reckitt Benckiser

Totally about 500 children and women are reported to have died or been injured after inhaling poisonous chemicals used in humidifier disinfectants manufactured and sold by several large distributors in South Korea from 2001 to 2011.   Lotte Mart's CEO apologized to the public on April 18, 2016 and offered plans for compensation to the victims. It was the first company involved in the humidifier sterilizer deaths to do so. Aekyung has not yet made a public apology.(But Lotte Mart raised an objection to court's verdict later this news because of the large amount of compensation for the victims.)   British-based firm Reckitt Benckiser has eventually admitted for the first time selling a humidifier disinfectant that killed about 100 people in South Korea on May 2, 2016.   Oxy Reckitt Benckiser, Cefu, Lotte Shopping, Homeplus, Aekyung have been criticised for previously refusing to take responsibilities more than five years.     ...

Feelings from Tanzania - Lee Kwang Ho

The feeling that dominated my mind until the first day was worry rather than expectation. Our preparation was not enough on every aspect. But, my colleagues looked so happy and relaxed even though we were not prepared and had to teach the class tomorrow. That made me worried so much. However, when the first class had started, my thought changed completely. Still, there were a lot of insufficiencies in our classes. Although Kits for the class were not enough and student’s academic achievement was different from what we had expected, student liked us as ourselves regardless of the poor teaching. Though we made a mistake, they accepted and loved it as part of ourselves. Only then, I realized that I am the one who can’t really adjust in Tanzania, not our team members. Women Empowerment Project in Myanmar

  The efforts to find the dream of Myanmar women continue!   Since 2020, Seoul YWCA has been supporting income generation through vocational training for women in Thandaunggyi, Karen State, Myanmar and has provided trainings on women’s rights for gender equality. In the midst of difficult circumstances such as the threat of COVID-19, soaring prices in the market and all the turbulences across Myanmar , we carefully restarted the Women’s Empowering Project to proceed with various vocational training as being planned. From February to March, an advanced sewing course was held, which has been ongoing since 2020. By developing further from previous trainings, the participants made various sizes of cross-body bags, tote bags, and travel bags with using the traditional pattern fabrics of the Karen tribe in Myanmar.
