Korea World Friends Volunteering program in Myanmar

Seoul YWCA started the new year with volunteering program with Myanmar Y-teens. Twenty six Korean college students selected all over the Korea implement volunteering service in Thanlyn township near Yangon for Jan 11th~22th.

They went to Su Taung Pyae elementary school and taught 4th~6 grade 270 students art, science, hygiene, music. Teaching and learning was not only program, they but also prepared for cultural exchange program by practicing singing, k-pop dancing, Taekwndo performance.

For ten days, Korean volunteers had learned about sharing, giving, mingling with new people. Hope they can take actions to share what they learn from the program in the future.

Watch us; we are the Women Entrepreneur in Thandaunggyi Seoul YWCA had an article once to let you know that we are implementing ‘Sharing and Dreams’ in Myanmar supported by Samsung and Community chest of Korea for one year. (making the ribbon with leftover pieces) The purpose is to get their economic independence and self-confidence. There are two batches in Thandaunggyi during the year. The first batch was finished in July, and from the August, the second batch was started their lessons! They had a handicraft class and ICT class. Through lessons, they could think of the business ideas and the profits. Thandunggyi is located in a mountain area, therefore it sometimes has trouble using electricity well, but they are having ICT class during this month. Please cheer them up and send regards!

Seoul YWCA campaigned Equal Pay for Equal Work on 25th May. They spoke out the large gap between women and men's wage for equal work and received signatures to designate "Equal Pay for Equal Work Day"

Gender equality media monitoring #3 Korean Current Affairs Program

Seoul YWCA proceeded media monitoring based on gender equality perspective, here's the third episode that explains Korean current affairs programs.
