2020 Access Opening Ceremony

Hello:) Seoul YWCA is hosting English Access Microscholarship Program(Access) sponsored by U.S. State Department. Access is an educational program which makes North Korean Students in South Korea improve their English ability in line with raising their global leadership. As usual, Access is running in The Great Vision School in this year. Originally it should have started in April, but the impact of COVID-19 has prevented us from having 2020 Access Opening Ceremony until May, 2020. Thus, we managed to have it yesterday, on June 1st. At the opening ceremony, there were 40 guests including Seoul YWCA staffs, students in the Great Vision School and teachers. Students cheerfully participated in the introduction session of Seoul YWCA and Access program itself. First, they watched a video where the president in Seoul YWCA, Ms.Lee Yoo Lim, encouraged their start. Then, they listened to a diplomat in the American embassy, Mr.Aaron Tarver, who said “Hello” in Korean clearly, ch...

Uncomfortable movement for the earth.

Aren't you happy because of getting warmer?  On 28th, May, Seoul YWCA held a campaign for "Citizen movement for getting rid of ultrafine dust"  Though it was a little hotter, we all worked hard together for the ultrafine dust-free Seoul! According to the National Census of ultrafine dust Survey conducted on 1008 adults across the country from February 18 to 28 this year. Nine out of ten Koreans (87.2%) said they feel discomfort due to ultrafine dust.  Ultrafine dust has now become an invisible public enemy.  In order to reduce ultrafine dust, it is necessary for the individual to reduce energy use. Because of that Seoul Y went out to the streets to announce their needs to the citizens and promise their actions. For those who have pledged their citizenship to reduce ultrafine dust, Seoul Y gave them tomato sunflowers and basil seeds. Seoul YWCA would like to actively participate in the movement to protect ourselves from ultrafine dust and to pr...

Preserved Flower class

Spring has come!  Seoul YWCA had 'Preserved flower class' for Y mem bers. We've made carnations for Family month (May) It is joyful when you get a flower, but it became sad because of the flower withers soon. 'Preserved flower' takes the flowers using special preservatives for two or three years! It gives us the advantage that it is soft to touch and can be used by people who are allergic to the natural flower.  If you take this well, the preserved flower can be last over ten years. The glamour of the preserved flower was more than we thought.  It was a valuable opportunity to make 'Love without withering' and deliver it to your loved ones.
