Entrepreneurship training - Youth Dream Factory

Are you familiar with "Social Entrepreneurship" ?
Social entrepreneurship is the use of the techniques by start up companies and other entrepreneurs to develop, fund and implement solutions to social, cultural, or environmental issues. This concept may be applied to a variety of organizations with different sizes, aims, and beliefs.

Seoul YWCA has decided to apply this concept to Y-Teens to solve social problems and create values through changing themselves and the world.

Sixty high school students(Y-Teens) are taking part in this program and they called themselves "Hero". They implement hypothetic community development and team building project together.

This program is funded by Starbucks Foundation. Seoul YWCA is looking forward to Y-Teens learning matured insight to put more values into society and community, not only oneself.

Labeling GMO

Seoul YWCA staffs participated in a training session to learn more about GMO. “Genetically Engineered Foods”, “Genetically modified organisms,” or GMOs, are organisms that have been created through application of transgenic, gene-splicing techniques that are part of biotechnology. These transgenic methods for moving genes around are also called “genetic engineering,” or GE. This relatively new science allows DNA (genetic material) from one species to be transferred into another species, creating transgenic organisms with combinations of genes from plants, animals, bacteria, and even viral gene pools. The mixing of genes from different species that have never shared genes in the past is what makes GMOs and GE crops so unique. Watch us; we are the Women Entrepreneur in Thandaunggyi

Watch us; we are the Women Entrepreneur in Thandaunggyi Seoul YWCA had an article once to let you know that we are implementing ‘Sharing and Dreams’ in Myanmar supported by Samsung and Community chest of Korea for one year. (making the ribbon with leftover pieces) The purpose is to get their economic independence and self-confidence. There are two batches in Thandaunggyi during the year. The first batch was finished in July, and from the August, the second batch was started their lessons! They had a handicraft class and ICT class. Through lessons, they could think of the business ideas and the profits. Thandunggyi is located in a mountain area, therefore it sometimes has trouble using electricity well, but they are having ICT class during this month. Please cheer them up and send regards!

Y-Teen Picnic in Hangang

The picturesque photo was taken in the picnic of Y-teens on the 2nd September. Seoul's sky was clear and high enough for the Y-teens enjoyed the picnic. They got together to have group activity about peacebuilding. Since some of them met each other for the first time, so they needed icebreaking first. And they had a meal altogether and had a quiz game. The purpose of this meeting was making good relationship among Y-teen members. Seoul YWCA hopes the Y-teens have more feelings of peace and YWCA.
